IBEW 569 Endorses Mejgan Afshan for La Mesa City Council Special Election

October 7, 2021

Attention IBEW 569 Brothers and Sisters living in La Mesa:

We are proud to endorse Mejgan Afshan for the La Mesa City Council Special Election! This election is critical to our on-going work to negotiate and establish labor agreements at local transit agencies and create hundreds of jobs for IBEW 569 members!

Mejgan fully supports good local construction jobs, renewable energy, and her Dad is an IBEW member! When she interviewed with our IBEW 569 Legislative Committee, Mejgan stated she fully supports our position on climate change and the creation of good green jobs:

“With smart policies, we can transition to a sustainable economy that lifts up working families and strengthens our middle-class. Our members are on the cutting-edge of renewable energy and green technologies. To ensure green jobs create pathways into the middle-class, it is essential to link policy with programs and projects. Local Hire Agreements, joint labor-management apprenticeship partnering, workforce safety standards and certifications. We support investing in mass transit, expanding electric vehicles, and moving towards more sustainable sources of power generation.”
